Blueberry & Basil Margarita

Here's a yummy twist on a timeless classic. Now I'm not sure where you may be coming from right now but here in Upstate New York the berries and basil are thriving! I decided to theme this month around taco Tuesdays and have been dreaming up margarita recipes in my head for days. Okay so who among us doesn't scroll Pinterest for inspiration? I couldn't not come up with my own version of this drink after drooling over KLSD's recipe. I pretty much used the same recipe I just subbed out the lemon juice for orange juice. Not only is this beautiful drink but it tastes dang good too! And a bonus with every sip you get a pleasant aroma of basil.


Ingredients:

4-6 fresh basil leaves

1/4 cup of blueberries

1 oz simple syrup

1/2 oz of fresh lime juice

1/2 oz of orange juice

2 oz of tequila

ice

You'll Need:

Cocktail shaker, muddler, and strainer.

  • note if you don't have these items on hand just try and muddle the basil, blueberries, and simple syrup as best as you can with a cup and spoon like I had to do!

Method:

  1. In a cocktail shaker add basil, blueberries, and simple syrup. Muddle together in a aromatic mushy consistency.

  2. Add lime juice, OJ, and tequila, cover mixture and give it a shake.

  3. Take your serving glass and salt or sugar the rim if desired and fill with ice.

  4. Pour the cocktail through the strainer into the glass.

  5. If you wanna be extra garnish with more blueberries and basil!
